Do We Need a Smartphone with 1080p Display

Get ready dizziness, this article is a lot of numbers. Some time ago there was news about the smartphone HTC X2 One 5-inch display with full HD 1920x1080 pixels. This further confirms that the mobile screen technology continues to progress rapidly. 5 years ago, 2007, when the first iPhone came out, Apple uses the screen 320x480 pixels (HVGA) is quite sharp (165 ppi) and large (3.5 inches) of his era, arguably pushing smartphone screen resolution to a higher level, especially when iPhone 4 was released with claims Retina Display (330 ppi).

That same year, in Japan the screen resolution high end phones it is already very high, FWVGA (854x480 pixels) display in the field an average of 3 inches, even Sony Ericsson SO905iCS have FWVGA screen in the only 2.8-inch screen, to yield screen 350 ppi, surpass Sony Xperia S (342ppi) and iPhone 4/4S (330 ppi). In other words, Retina Display before it was cool, hehe.

Japanese smartphones can have a display such as competition content through mobile phones and digital television (OneSegment / 1Seg TV). Even mobile-phone screens adorned Bravia (Sony), Aquos (Sharp), REGZA (Toshiba), Viera (Panasonic) and others. Indeed, despite the high rate capability, these phones unfortunately are not released outside of Japan, although some are sold officially as Sharp WX-A92, and of course from the Black Market, with the ability to be circumcised.

What about today's smartphones? Now smartphone Android / Windows Phone mid-end was already using WVGA resolution (800x480 pixels), while the high end shifts to qHD (960x540) and HD 720p (1280x720). Large dimensions even more crazy, first SE Xperia X10 has been considered a giant with its 4-inch screen. Now there is the Samsung Galaxy Note (5.3 inches), S III (4.8 inches), HTC One X (4.7 inches) and the LG Optimus 4X, all using a resolution of 1280x720 pixels (1280x800 Note), with a quality that could be considered very good.

This begs the question, where were added resolution will this happen? Is the 720p is the maximum? 1080p is a waste of the production costs for the phone? 1080p or better?

The screen on the smartphone the higher the resolution, the resolution added to when this will happen? Is the 720p is the maximum? 1080p is a waste of the production costs for the phone? 1080p or better? In my opinion, 1080p for less than 6 inch screen is a thing that is not effective. Imagine, at 440 ppi pixel density!

Once again I think personally, Apple claims that the phone is enough to 330ppi is true, because each pixel will be very small to be seen by the human retina is not, as it is called Retina Display. What is the normal use of sight you can see the pixels on the screen of your iPhone 4 or Xperia S? I think not, unless your eyes perhaps Superman's eyes.

This is an exception for devices that each pixel AMOLED sail only has 2 subpixels so it looks less sharp than the other three subpixels screen. But again, the sharpness of the display on the Galaxy Note and say SIII could suffice.

Another problem is the content. With a 1920x1080 pixel screen, you must use a wallpaper with a resolution that maintains the look pretty much for your homescreen. If the applications or games, of course, its size will increase. Remember only the problem that arises when Apple released the iPad with New megabesar resolution of 2048x1536 pixels, the size of the game can be 3 times the same game at a resolution of 1024x768 pixels old iPad. New iPad in my review, watch video 1080p 1080p was not good because it is smaller than the retina display on the New iPad.

Maybe it would be more efficient if the 7-inch tablet to start using a resolution of 1280x800 pixels (252 ppi screen density yield), while the 10.1-inch tablet using a full HD 1920x1080 (218 ppi). Believe me, this is better than the 7-inch tablet today that the average resolution is only 1024x600, and 10-inch tablet 1280x800 pixels. As for the phone, 720p is enough. Of course this is all just pandapat from me, what do you think?
